The seal is not affected by the heat that it could be subjected to during a fire. Its main purpose is to maintain the end load capability of the joint if the rubber seal degrades during a fire thus providing a sound joint both during and after a fire.
Under test conditions at 75 mbar, 40°C working temperature, the joint must withstand a temperature of 850°C for 30 minutes. For Natural Gas laterals and riser sinside and outside buildings.
The system was specifically designed to enable gas to be supplied to blocks of flats or apartments up to a 40 metre riser height without the need for conventional screwed or welded joints.
